HUMANE SOCIETY 2008 CALENDERS

A graphic design company (Underground Graffix) approached us with a plan to produce a 2008 calendar with pictures of Humane Society animals. We don’t have the details yet but we will send out a follow up if this comes to fruition. They wish to do this project as a fundraiser for our animals. It would make a great stocking stuffer for our supporters.

PET PICS WITH SANTA
RAISES $8670.67!

What a wonderful event we had this year. For 3 weekends, we held our annual Pet Pics with Santa at Vandermeer Garden Centre on the Whitby/Ajax border on Baseline Lakeridge Road. It’s truly a Christmas wonderland when you walk through their doors and we can’t thank them enough for letting us be there. If you want a touch of spring, be sure and visit them. The fragrance alone is worth the trip. As always, Ian Goodall, our professional photographer was fabulous. His calm manner and natural ability to capture just the right moment is evident in every shot he takes. It’s as if the animals pose perfectly because
that’s what we want them to do. You are the best Ian. Some animals were easy; some were a little more difficult. We certainly had our share of hisses and growls. Dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, ferrets, hamsters, bunnies, and even a horse came to visit the big man in red. A mother retriever came with her seven little puppies, the photos were beautiful. Some animals won’t see another Christmas and it’s always sad. However, these photos are such a lovely remembrance of happier times with our beloved pets. Keith, Bill and David (aka Santas), we thank you. You had big shoes and costume to fill, and you were great. So
many animals, so many wishes to answer.

Our volunteers outdid themselves. I’m sure all of you will agree that the baked goods were fabulous and absolutely delicious.
Those who donated crafts did a wonderful job. And to all of you who gave your time to help at Pet Pics itself, thank you so much.

We raised $8670.67, just over $11.00 more than last year. All of this goes to many animals in our care. Unfortunately, the second Sunday was a bad snowstorm and only a few people ventured out. However, on the last Sunday, 108 people came with their animals, which was a one-day record for us.

Thank you so much to everyone who came out and supported us.
We hope you enjoyed yourself and that you will tell all
of your friends and join us again next year.

Check back periodically for information on upcoming events.
