The HBC Rewards Programme has changed.
There are two ways to enroll and link to our new number:
1. In person at the store
2. On the computer
In person:
Go to the service desk, and give them your HBC card number. If you do not have one, it will take approx 5 minutes of your time and they will issue one immediately for you. Ask them to link your number to the Humane Society of Durham Region, Public I.D. # 5793 411. Donate 100%. That’s all there is to it and present your own card from now on and it will go automatically to the shelter.
Check your receipt that it has been donated to the community program. This is printed on the bottom of the receipt.
On the Computer:
Enroll as a new HMC Rewards Member. Go to www.hbc.com, click on “BC Rewards, then “enroll”, then “Enroll as a new HBC Rewards Member/Complete an online form”. Enter required information (be sure to include and email address). Check box marked “I agree with the terms and conditions listed above, then click on “Enroll Now”. Write down your HBC rewards number or
print out that screen, then click on “continue”. Then you want to link your number to the Humane Society’s. Go to www.hbc.com, click on “HBC Rewards”, then “Community Program”, then “Donate to a Community Group”, then “Search for a Community to make a Donation”. Then go to “Community Organization Public ID Number”, and enter 5793411. Click on “continue”. If information for “Humane Society of Durham Region” appears, then click on “Donate Points”. Enter your HBC Rewards number, and then click “continue”. Donate 100%, and then click “SAVE”.
If last 9 digits of your HBC Rewards number appear, then enter required information. Lastly click “SUBMIT” twice. Your new HBC Rewards card will be mailed to you in 4-6 weeks.

Used Printer Cartridges Wanted
We are now collecting used printer cartridges for recycling. We are reimbursed monetarily for each cartridge we send in and trees will be planted in our name. If anyone has a business or group that would like to have a drop off box or just bring them to the Shelter for us, we'll all be doing our bit for the environment as well as helping our animals at the Shelter!
Donate Your Canadian Tire Money
We can allways use Canadian Tire Money to purchase supplies for the Shelter. Please feel free to mail it to use or drop it off. Every little bit helps!
A&P Cash Register Tapes
You can also drop off or mail us A&P cash register tapes (reciepts) which we can then turn in to help the shelter.
Used Cell Phones
We are now taking in cell phones as well, that are no longer needed. These items can be dropped off at the shelter anytime.
Volunteers Needed
We are looking for mature volunteers who would be willing to give some time at our various fundraising events or man tables at malls, etc. to help raise public awareness about the Humane Society of Durham Region.If anyone feels they can spare a few hours periodically please leave a message for Cindy at 905-668-9171.
