We have been made aware of a disturbing situation.
Someone who is pretending to be from the Humane Society is going door to door asking for donations of money towards the new building fund.

Please be aware that we have no one doing this on our behalf.
The persons are described as a teenage males and is using a lunch bag
or plastic shopping bag to collect donations.

If you are contacted by someone asking for money, please ask for identification, a letter
proving they are authorized to fundraise on our behalf and for the shelter phone number.
If they are unwilling to provide these details please call Durham Regional Police at once,
the person is committing fraud. Their number is 905-579-1520.

Anyone who is working on our behalf will have a letter, signed by myself on our
letterhead with our registered charity number.
They would also expect for you to call us for authentication.

to let us know when you were contacted and what area you live in.
