The Humane Society of Durham Region hosts a number of events each year. These events include fund-raising events, social activities for the general public and activities specifically for pets. All events are planned and conducted by volunteers.

Shelter Volunteers

The shelter is always looking for volunteers to assist shelter staff in the care of the animals. We are looking for people of all ages who can provide a few hours a week, or more if possible, to assist us in feeding and caring for the animals. We are also looking for people who can be dog walkers so that our canine residents can get more exercise.

All new volunteers must fill out an application form. A copy of the form can be downloaded from our web site (in Adobe PDF format) or obtained at the shelter.

Fund-Raising Volunteers

The Humane Society conducts a number of fund-raising events each year. These events can include the regularly scheduled events such as the Pet Walkathon or promotional tables at shopping malls such as The Oshawa Centre and Five Point mall in Oshawa. We are always looking for new volunteers who are interested in putting in a few hours on a weekend to man one of the promotional tables or assist in other fund-raisers. Please call the shelter or send an e-mail to humanedurham.news@sympatico.ca if you are interested.
